So many unknowns

We like to know things. Most people do, right? We especially like to know the answers to life's bigger questions: family, health, budget, etc. This is natural... living in a state of unknown is scary. But here we are as a family, living in the biggest stage of unknown we have ever experienced. We don't know if or when another child will come to be a part of our family and yet, we feel a lot of peace and truly abundant joy. We don't say this to brag! We couldn't if we tried as we don't feel this way because of anything we have done ourselves. Admittedly, we don't have any "trick" to relieve anxiety in waiting or living in unknown circumstances and for that we are really grateful. Instead of relying on ourselves, we trust that God will be who He says He will be. We trust that God keeps His promises to those to whom He makes them. We trust that He will in fact work toward the good of those who love Him, according to HIS will (Romans 8:28).
None of this means that we will definitely get what we want out of this experience, but we can trust that God's purpose for our family will be fulfilled. In that, we can rejoice because His plan and purpose is SO much higher than anything we could dream of! We can rely on a God who sent his son to die for us to save us from our sins and adopt US into his family as sons and daughters. It's incredible really!
We are hopeful that at the end of this waiting and time of unknown we will have a larger family. We are hopeful that we will have gained a child to call our own, a child whose story we will honor. We are hopeful that everything about this process will continually point us and others to Christ and his great sacrifice!

I choose most often to set my mind on scripture for encouragement as we wait (something I'm not fond of or good at) but sometimes a song lyric comes along that really encourages my heart! If you haven't heard "Trust in You" by Lauren Daigle, I would encourage you to listen. (I don't know her doctrine or what she believes but this song rings true with me!) If I haven't felt every word of this song today, the day must not be over yet!

Letting go of every single dream
I lay each one down at your feet
Every moment of my wandering
It never changes what You see
I try to win this war, I confess
My hands are weary, I need your rest
Mighty warrior, King of the fight
No matter what I face, You're by my side
When You don't move the mountains I needed You to move
When You don't part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don't give an answer as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust in You
Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There's not a day ahead You have not seen
So let all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing less
When You don't move the mountains I needed You to move
When You don't part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don't give an answer as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust in You
You are my strength and comfort
You are my steady hand
You are my firm foundation
The Rock on which I stand
Your ways are always higher
Your plans are always good
There's not a place where I'll go
You've not already stood
When You don't move the mountains I needed You to move
When You don't part the waters I wish I could walk through
When You don't give an answer as I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust in You
